Model Ajak Deng has had enough of modeling.
Deng, 29, had an emotional breakdown on Instagram Wednesday, in which she tearfully slammed the fashion industry.
“You want to be a model, you don’t know how lonely it is at the top,” a tearful Deng said. “Not only that the people are constantly telling you that you need to be a better person and that you’re a horrible person. Constantly and on a daily basis”
She added, “I am sick and tired. I am done. If I do commit suicide — know that I commit suicide because of you m*****r, IMG I am done with this s**t. I can’t do it.”
This isn’t the first time Deng has railed at the fashion industry. Back in February 2016, Deng abruptly quit modeling via Instagram, writing: “I am happy to announce that I am officially done with the fashion industry, I will be moving back to Australia in order to live the life that I fully deserved. Which is real life.”
Deng’s manager, Stephen Bucknell, said racism made it difficult for Deng to book gigs in Australia as the nation shows favoritism to white models.
Deng has been extremely vocal about her struggles with racism in the industry and in her everyday life. In 2014, Deng said, “‘I go back to Melbourne and think I’m going home and someone will say ‘You don’t belong here’ and I’m like “Well I grew up here. What do you mean I don’t belong here?”
Sending well-wishes to Deng
