P. Diddy is breaking his silence on the death of Kim Porter, his longtime former girlfriend, and mother of his three children.
“For the last three days I’ve been trying to wake up out of this nightmare. But I haven’t,” he wrote Saturday, accompanied with a throwback video of the pair posing together for a pregnancy photo shoot.
“I don’t know what I’m going to do without you baby. I miss you so much,” he added. “Today I’m going to pay tribute to you, I’m going to try and find the words to explain our unexplainable relationship.”
He continued the emotional Instagram tribute: “We were more than best friends, we were more than soulmates. WE WERE SOME OTHER [expletive]!! And I miss you so much. Super Black Love 🖤.”
Porter passed away unexpectedly on Thursday (Nov. 15) at the age of 47. It is unclear how the former model died but sources say she was battling an illness for several weeks. Police do not expect foul play.
Porter and a “nervous” Diddy (born Sean Combs) met in the 1990s and dated off and on until 2007. They shared three biological children and Diddy treated her son, Quincy Brown, from a previous relationship as one of his own.
Of her breakup from Diddy, Porter said she had no ill feelings towards the business mogul.
“You know how when two people go their separate ways, most of the time there’s animosity? It’s not like that with us,” she told Essence in 2009. “Sean and I have this bond, this friendship. It’s not about ‘if you’re faithful to me, if I’m being faithful to you.’ We’re friends. I’m the person he can tell his innermost thoughts to and he’s that person for me.”
Celebrities including Wendy Williams, 50 Cent, and Rihanna have mourned Porter’s death on social media.
